summary
In Greek mythology, Sirens are depicted as part bird and part woman, famed for their alluring songs that lure sailors to their doom. They were often described as having the heads and upper bodies of women, while their lower bodies were those of birds, sometimes with taloned feet and wings.Odysseus was curious as to what the sirens sang to him, and so, on the advice of Circe, he had all of his sailors plug their ears with beeswax and tie him to the mast. He ordered his men to leave him tied tightly to the mast, no matter how much he might beg. When he heard their beautiful song, he ordered the sailors to untie him but they bound him tighter. When they had passed out of earshot, Odysseus demonstrated with his frowns to be released.[54] Some post-Homeric authors state that the sirens were fated to die if someone heard their singing and escaped them, and that after Odysseus passed by they therefore flung themselves into the water and perishedStatues of sirens in a funerary context are attested since the classical era, in mainland Greece, as well as Asia Minor and Magna Graecia. The so-called "Siren of Canosa"—Canosa di Puglia is a site in Apulia that was part of Magna Graecia—was said to accompany the dead among grave goods in a burial. She appeared to have some psychopomp characteristics, guiding the dead on the afterlife journey. The cast terracotta figure bears traces of its original white pigment. The woman bears the feet, wings and tail of a bird. The sculpture is conserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Spain, in Madrid. The sirens were called the Muses of the lower world. Classical scholar Walter Copland Perry (1814–1911) observed: "Their song, though irresistibly sweet, was no less sad than sweet, and lapped both body and soul in a fatal lethargy, the forerunner of death and corruption." Their song is continually calling on Persephone. The term "siren song" refers to an appeal that is hard to resist but that, if heeded, will lead to a bad conclusion. Later writers have implied that the sirens ate humans, based on Circe's description of them "lolling there in their meadow, round them heaps of corpses rotting away, rags of skin shriveling on their bones." As linguist Jane Ellen Harrison (1850–1928) notes of "The Ker as siren": "It is strange and beautiful that Homer should make the sirens appeal to the spirit, not to the flesh." The siren song is a promise to Odysseus of mantic truths; with a false promise that he will live to tell them, they sing,Once he hears to his heart's content, sails on, a wiser man.
We know all the pains that the Greeks and Trojans once endured
on the spreading plain of Troy when the gods willed it so—
all that comes to pass on the fertile earth, we know it all!"They are mantic creatures like the Sphinx with whom they have much in common, knowing both the past and the future", Harrison observed. "Their song takes effect at midday, in a windless calm. The end of that song is death." That the sailors' flesh is rotting away suggests it has not been eaten. It has been suggested that, with their feathers stolen, their divine nature kept them alive, but unable to provide food for their visitors, who starved to death by refusing to leave

Where as her feet resemble that of a siren. She has large sharp talons on her feet. She has the total of four talons. She has three facing the front like a normal bird and then one in the back . Maeves talons are extremely sharp at all times. The formation of her feet is referred to as "Falcon" . These talons are crucial for capturing and holding prey, and the feet are also adapted for striking and grabbing. Falcons have three toes pointing forward and one backward called a halluxMaeve's wings are not just wings but also her arms. When someone looks closely you can see large talons that are her fingers. Unlike a normal human being she only has three talons on her hands.Maeve's teeth are extremely sharp and pointed from years of cannibalism and due to the way sirens were created the sharpness of teeth goes from the bottom and top of her teeth. Staring from where her canines are and backwards it is the same for her bottom teeth. When it comes to length of Maeve's wings they are 6.4 meters long, they mimic the same length and width as a adult pelagornis sandersi. Maeve normally has her wings folded downwards especially when she isn't flying. But they do point out quite a bit
Maeve does have a feathered tail as well. This is something that helps her personally with balance• (All of Maeve's visuals up to date), HERE.

Sirens are capable of changing their form to someone that someone loved. Other times they merely change their form to stalk their prey Head canons Maeve's singing and voice claim itself is Anna Lea Casey . Specifically when she played Penelope in Epic and the SirensMaeves real name is Thelxiepeia, however , she goes by the name Maeve. Reason being is because she consider her old self ( Thelxiepeia) long dead and unreachable. she believes going by a different identity will hide who she once was. Her name may be changed but the horrors of her pasts will never be.Maeve is a very selfish person , even if someone gives to her she just wants to continue to take and take until there's nothing left Even if she offers something there is ALWAYS going to be something in it for herInsulting her / being rude to her unfortunately makes her happy. She enjoys when people talk back to her, if you degrade her she's going to want moreMaeve has two pet lumpfish ones named Nickle the other ones named Dime ,She just finds their not so grateful swimming adorable and also finds the weird little suction cup they have cute , she takes good care of them tooMaeve doesn't really wear clothes often she does wear a bottom piece of course but top wise she struggles because the whole feather fiasco she has going on. She doesn't like the pulls and rips. She can wear clothes just she Chooses to be feral : bloods easier to wash off skin than clothes in maeves eyesHer feathers don't move easily with the wind. It'll take a lot more than a gust of wind for her chest feathers to move up and flash someoneWhen Maeve either feels happy, shocked , angry or annoyed, her feathers can fluff up in different waysMaeves blood is black and purple mixed with a golden tint. This is a reminder she was never once a human and always a monsterMaeve IS capable of love. However it's really hard for her to openly admit such thingsBlack lipstick . She loves it that's all. She uses it for makeup all the timeMaeve's like / dislike of gods comes from her own personal thoughts that they had turned their backs on the sirens during the challenge of the muses. She believes( / believed) that they knew about the challenge at hand. But not all were aware of the challenge or what was going on . In some lore it is said that not all gods hated the sirens. Maeve believes that they were hated due to Heras actionsMaeve isn't shy when it comes to foreplay. She will do everything possible to find out what reallt gets her partner going. Her favorite form of foreplay is going down on them and making them into gasping messes with her tongueMaeve enjoys marking what she claims as "Hers" . This will be anything from bite marks to claw marks and even something simple as hickies. She's very fond of expressing that she ""loves"" someone. But if she does this to someone whom isn't a partner (which itself is VERY unlikely)) she doesn't have as much of a possessive ring. In that case it is just marks with no meaningMaeve not only likes her own body but she'd praise her partners body, no matter their size , if theirs scarring, if theirs stretch marks , if theirs vitiligo, no matter the circumstances she will tell her partner how beautiful they are. She won't use terms like sexy to avoid them feeling like they're just a means to get bedded.
She would trace every little bump/ scar/ patch etc and kiss them all well vocalizing how beautiful they are. She doesn't just throw compliments around because she can. She does it out of pure honesty. She isn't saying something to just make her partner feel comfortable. She's saying her true honest thoughts
If it is a more intimate moment however she will whisper sweet words into their ear and inform them how she finds every little part of their body immensely eye catching and attractive. She would let her partner know that they're a diamond to her. Regardless of how they look.Maeve is very open sexually . She would be willing to try new things, especially if it isn't something that she's done. She finds exploration of new kinks, turn on etc exhilarating and fun. She is always wanting to see what others are into and what turns her partner on.Maeve is a Top leaning switch. She prefers to be the dominate person but she is willing to bottom for her partner as well. Maeve isn't apposed to being the submissive partner but prefers a much more dominate role. She is also willing to experiment tooHer top half is covered by her chest feathers. That being said she does indeed have regular feminine anatomy under those feathers ( areolas, nipples etc )And under her bottom half is also almost like a humans with the difference internally. She has the " vent like " opening that allows her to pass eggs like birds would. When it comes to having children she hasn't had any but if she were they'd come out as a egg and would eventually hatch. They would be part Siren . Which is how they'd be able to survive the liquid inside the eggDue to being a Bird based Siren. she does not give birth normally . no she lays eggs. much like a actual bird wouldMUCH like a bird , there are specific seasons that cause her to become more hormonal and wish to lay a clutch of fertile eggs. but during these times she tends to lock herself away. she does not really want children and worries that if she does have them the Muses will take their feathers.Due to being a Bird based Siren. she does not give birth normally . no she lays eggs. much like a actual bird wouldMUCH like a bird , there are specific seasons that cause her to become more hormonal and wish to lay a clutch of fertile eggs. but during these times she tends to lock herself away. she does not really want children and worries that if she does have them the Muses will take their feathers.she also does have something like "ovulation" however it is not anything that causes her hormones to change or anything. it is merely the shedding of old feathers to encourage growth and replacement for new ones. it also helps he feel more " beautiful" with shiny new feathers
